Well, summer holidays are usually associated with travel and this month has been typical. After a family holiday in France and Spain, I was invited by British Council to go to Beijing to speak to this year's Chinese Language Assistants at their conference before they come to Britain in September. This year our CLA is Ms Minyang Fan who is ,and it was great to get to meet her along with her 86 colleagues before they all leave home.
Today has been the second of our New Secondary Curriculum "Focus days". In October we worked with the English Department on "Gripping Grammar"; today we worked with the Performing Arts and Humanities Departments and Y7 to examine the history, geography, languages, music and dance of this fascinating area - a real melting pot of European and native cultures. Lots of pictures to look at, and a video as soon as we can work out how to edit it from our Flip camera and to load it up. Meanwhile, well done Y7! Your creole role plays, your Salsa dancing along with your steel pan playing was awesome and as for your Soca dancing - wow!
